The 2014 Commonwealth Games represented the largest event ever held in the city of Glasgow, and IBI Group was part of the team tasked with ensuring smooth and efficient transportation operations during the landmark competition.

In the year leading up to the Games, we provided Travel Information Systems and Travel Advisory Services expertise, creating customized software solutions and information for the Games’ participants, spectators, businesses, and anyone travelling in and around the city amidst heightened congestion.

Our team was active in the Transport Coordination Centre providing real-time travel information and guidance during the Games. Our digital management dashboard was used by Transport Scotland’s Multi-Agency Response Team and the Scottish Government’s Resilience Room, who were operating heightened service during the Games. Our award-winning Traffic Scotland information service also provided information via web and smart devices, and hosted the digital Games Radio service.

Our contribution to the Games came after over two decades of transportation experience in Scotland, highlighted by our Traffic Scotland systems that play a key role in the day-to-day operation and management of the National Trunk Road network.
